Moisture in opal: Like all other opals, the fire opal gem stone consists
of moisture. It is this moisture that gives the gem stone it's lively color and
vibrance. It is necessary that the gemstone in your fire opal claddagh ring
retains it's moisture. Keep the ring away from heated areas or heat sources,
this could dry up the moisture in the fire opal and leave it looking drab and
lifeless. Under normal conditions it is believed that, the moisture from the
air and possibly from the skin (of the person wearing the gemstone) works to
keep the moisture in the gemstone intact. Your fire opal claddagh ring has a gemstone
that is not treated or enhanced in any way.
Color range: You could choose a gemstone for your fire opal claddagh
ring according to your preference. The choice would range from, a very pale
orange to a much darker orange shade that shows hints of red. Like we mentioned
above, there is no good color or bad color when it comes to fire opals. Some
buyers love the innocent pale orange of the lighter colored gems while others,
prefer the solid orange color tone. No matter what color shade you choose, you
can rest assured that your fire opal claddagh ring would look gorgeous in yellow
or white gold. The choice of a yellow or white gold fire opal claddagh ring can
therefore be based on your fancy. Kaisilver uses fire opal that is naturally beautiful,
no color enhancing procedures are used for this gemstone.
Protection: There are a few things that are not good for the fire opal
gem stone, you need to keep your claddagh fire opal ring away from these. Firstly,
remember that heat can dry up the moisture in your fire opal gem stone so, keep
it away from heat. Secondly, make sure that the gemstone is not subjected to
physical impact. The design of a fire claddagh opal ring will need to play a
part here too. A design that covers the edges and corners of the fire opal
gemstone and does not let the gem stone protrude out of the ring, will go a
long way in reducing the chances of physical impact affecting the gem stone.
You will ofcourse need to be a bit careful when, wearing your claddagh fire
opal gem stone ring too. Another thing that your fire opal claddagh ring should
be kept away from is, harsh chemicals and detergents. Many gems and not just
fire opal can be affected by these materials.
Cleaning: Your claddagh fire opal ring does not like ultrasound cleaners
and harsh jewelry cleaning solutions. To clean a gold fire opal claddagh ring,
occassionaly soak it for a few seconds in cool (room temperature) water and then
wipe it with a soft clean cloth. Make sure that the cloth used to wipe your
claddagh fire opal gem stone ring, does not have any sharp objects like buttons,
hooks or pins. The gemstone should also not be subjected to drastic temperature
changes, make sure that the water used to soak your claddagh ring is near the
temperature of the room. If you have a silver fire opal claddagh ring, tarnish
will need to be handled carefully. Occassionally wipe your sterling silver
claddagh opal ring with a soft moist cloth. This will reduce the chances of
visible tarnish from forming on the silver ring. If you allow severe tarnish
to develop, seek professional help in cleaning your fire opal silver claddagh
ring. Chemical solutions and polishing fabrics used to clean tarnished silver
jewelry might, affect the fire opal gem stone in your ring. If your jeweler is
to clean a tarnished silver fire opal ring, make sure that he understands the
gem stone. In such cases, it is best for the jeweler to take off the gem stone
from the mounting before cleaning the ring. He can then set the fire opal
gemstone back into the silver mounting after the cleaning process is completed.
Cleaning a silver claddagh fire opal ring can be a problem if the ring is plated
with rhodium, gold, platinum or any other metal. We strongly recommend that no
plating be done for your sterling silver claddagh fire opal gem stone ring.
The above information is highly useful in understanding any ring with a fire
opal gemstone and does not apply to just, this fire opal claddagh ring. Jewelers
choose to keep this information away from buyers, fearing that they might
lose a sale. However, the truth is that the beauty and style of a claddagh
fire opal gemstone ring, far outweighs the little effort that will be required
to keep the ring looking good. Keep this information in mind and make sure that
you pass it on to your friends. Remember that every gemstone has physical characteristics
that need to be considered when wearing, storing or cleaning the ring.
An intense research was conducted by the Kaisilver team to understand the meaning
and tradition of the Irish Claddagh ring. The findings revealed the story behind
history's most meaningful jewels. The 375 year jewel was given a fitting tribute
by our talented designers. The Kaisilver Claddagh ring is today regarded as the world's
best rendition of this ring. We retain all the features of the original ring that
was made by by a poor Irish slave. We have combined high quality craftsmanship and
gemstone options to add beauty and meaning to this terrific jewel. Each ring is
fully custom made in gold or sterling silver, every gemstone is handpicked and
custom cut. Our craftsmen fully understand the deeper meaning of the ring and
provide their undivided attention and dedication, to every single claddagh ring
that they create.
The story of the claddagh, started over 375 years ago. An Irish fisherman by
the name of Robert Joyce, was captured by pirates and sold as a slave. His
master was a wealthy goldsmith who forced Robert to learn the trade. Robert
kept thinking of his beloved who lived in the same Irish village (named Claddagh).
He started making a ring for her, dreaming that he would be a free man one day
and go back to her with the ring. His dreams came true as he was released from
slavery a few years later. He returned to his village and was soon united with his
beloved. He gave her the ring which came to be known as the Claddagh ring.
The main features of the ring were the heart, crown and the hands. These symbolized
love, loyalty and friendship (respectively). In recent years, the Irish claddagh
ring has received a tremendous revival. This was due to the introduction of the
prestigious Kaisilver claddagh ring.

We had mentioned above that, a yellow or white gold claddagh ring with fire opal would look equally good. Kaisilver claddagh rings are priced the same for the yellow or white gold option. We recommend no plating for the silver claddagh fire opal gem stone ring as, all plating on silver rings will wear off after a while. We give the same high quality craftsmanship and finishing for gold or silver claddagh opal rings. You can also choose the diamond option for your opal claddagh ring. For an additional 100 U.S$, we will set 3 genuine diamonds in the crown of your claddagh ring. The center diamond would be of size 2.5mm round and the a 1.5mm round diamond would be set on either side of the center diamond. Please send us your questions and doubts at sales@claddagh-rings.com and we will provide complete answers and explanations to ensure that you make a well informed decision.
