The story of the claddagh, started over 375 years ago. An Irish fisherman by the name of Robert Joyce, was captured by pirates and sold as a slave. His master was a wealthy goldsmith who forced Robert to learn the trade. Robert kept thinking of his beloved who lived in the same Irish village (named Claddagh). He started making a ring for her, dreaming that he would be a free man one day and go back to her with the ring. His dreams came true as he was released from slavery a few years later.
